About this site's lack of design: Yes, it's supposed to look this way — I'm redesigning, along with helping create a new baseline theme for WordPress (see it on GitHub).

Introducing Sidebar Creative

Today, a new team is born. No, it’s not a new company (per se), but a collective of developers and designers who all share the same goals, run their own consultancies, are active in the web standards community, and want bigger and better things for the web community.

We are authors, designers, programmers, and thinkers. We love XHTML/CSS, we champion usability while striving for good looks (in our designs ;) and we love branding.

The list really goes on and on (we get along really well, we’re all musicians, etc.) but the most important thing is that together, we will be able to tackle larger projects than we could on our own (and perhaps more importantly, larger clients may approach us as a group where they might not individually) and have a ton of fun in the process.

So, who are we? As individuals, you may know the gang as Steve Smith, Jon Snook and Bryan Veloso. You can even listen to us ramble on about it on a brand new episode of Live from the 101. But it’s the sum of the parts that really makes this exciting.

We are Sidebar Creative, and we’re just getting started.

  1. Sidebar Creative Launches…

Web design and development gurus Dan Rubin, Jonathan Snook, Bryan Veloso and Steve Smith have combined forces. They created Sidebar Creative - a powerful web development collective. Bryan tells me they’re glad to work with any size client - big o…

  8. Ryan Brill says:

Nice! Best of luck to you all. Now someone better hurry up and reply to my email - I had the budget slider set to $500,000+ for crying out loud. If I’m going to drop half a million, I expect a prompt reply… :p

  9. Nathan Smith says:

Awesome. Super-nova of talent. Sad to see that not much orange made into the Sidebar site design. Best of luck in the endeavor!

    Congrats and good luck ;)

  11. Dan Rubin says:

@all: thanks for the well-wishes. We’re already fielding requests, and we’re looking forward to doing great things together.

@Ryan: we have a patent-pending BS filter built into that slider ;)

@Nathan: Orange might slip in there at some point, once we build out a full site. I’d also like to see some green (ala Snook) — of course, the current color scheme is actually my doing, not Steve’s or Bryan’s (though it “feels” like their blogs).

  12. Ryan Brill says:

Hmm… guess that explains it. Time to go outsmart your BS filter. ;)

  13. Mike Gowen says:

Nice! I’ll wait for the first fruits of your labor in suspense. Good luck!
